Preston West

Hello!  My name is Preston West, and English teacher at OWL.  I’ve taught at OWL since 2020, and before that I taught English at Parkway Montessori Middle School in St Paul Public Schools.  I have degrees in English from St Olaf College and a Masters in Differentiated Instruction from University of Concordia St. Paul.  

My biggest joy in the classroom is connecting students with books and helping them build a love of reading.  Student choice features prominently in my classroom as students navigate the responsibility and joy that comes with being in control of their own learning.  I’m a voracious reader of fantasy, science fiction, and romance books.  Some of my favorites include Root Magic by Eden Royce, Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas, and The Spear Cuts Through Water by Simon Jimenez.
