The arts are alive at Open, and music is no exception! Over 100 students are involved, polishing their music skills every day.
We want students to experience the value of music, the joy  | | Some 5th and 6th grade cellists | of making music, and the personal development it brings.
Students at Open School can learn violin, viola, cello, bass, and keyboard! All students in grades 3 - 6 study the violin, viola,  | | Open School Orchestra (grades 7 - 12) | or cello. This broadens their elementary experience, providing a rich educational opportunity for personal development, teamwork, and academic skills.
Grades 7 - 12 have two options: Open School  | | Open School Orchestra violist and violinist | Orchestra (violin, viola, cello, bass) and piano keyboard class.
For all classes, instruction is free and Open School provides instruments to students. (Families who  | | String bass! | can afford it are asked to pay $10 per year for an instrument to help with repairs).
Open School musicians present two concerts per year and perform at other school events. They enjoy  | | Some 5th and 6th grade violinists and violists | field trips to musical performances around the Twin Cities, like the Minnesota Orchestra and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.
