More about Kathy...

As the second oldest of thirteen and a parent of two, I have spent almost my entire life reading and telling stories to children. I grew up on St. Paul’s Eastside and we lived within walking distance of Hayden Heights Library. I spent many hours there (That was when libraries were a quiet place!). Libraries are still one of my favorite places to visit and I often check out different libraries when we travel.

I hold a Bachelors Degree in Elective Studies from the University of Minnesota with concentrations in languages and literature. After college I worked as a Liquidation Merchandiser for J. C. Penney Catalog and then stayed home to raise our family. When our youngest was in first grade, I walked over to Farnsworth to see about a job and have been in St Paul school libraries ever since. I became Open School’s library clerk in the fall of 2008.

I enjoy gardening and baking, but reading is still my favorite past time, especially mysteries. I hope I can impart the same love of books to all the students at Open!
